Mario Andretti waves the green flag for
Bobby Rahal's Legends of Motorsports
Inaugural Event at

"Legends of Motorsports is an annual series of premium historic racing events staged at historic North American venues. Based in Zionsville, Indiana, HMP's principal owners are racers and businessmen Bobby Rahal (below center), Peter Stoneberg  (right) and Zak Brown (left)."

Legends of Motorsports inaugural event featured eight of 13 Legends of Motorsports car classes including: Thunder and Lightning Production Cars, 2.0 Liter Sports Racers, IMSA/FIA GT, Trans-Am, Can/Am, Historic Grand Prix, Formula Libre, and Classic Monoposto. Joining Legends of Motorsports for its inaugural event was Mario Andretti, the only driver to ever win the Indianapolis 500 (1969), Daytona 500 (1967) and Formula One World Championship (1978).

We brought nine cars to this much anticipated event – the Williams FW07 of Hamish Somerville; Rick Carlino's Hesketh 308C for Bobby Rahal to drive and his March 811 for Ted Wentz to try; John Monson's McLaren M1B was also brought for Bobby to race.  Nick Incantalupo was with us to drive his Chevron B23, Bernard Bradpiece had both his Merlyn and his Elva Mk7; Pete Schultz, his Lotus Elan; and Lee, the Lotus 7.
