TEAM-LCR REPORTS

6th MONACO HISTORIC GRAND PRIX
May 10 - 11, 2008

Featuring Rick Carlino in his 1975 Hesketh 308C (above), his 1971 Surtees TS9B (below left),
 and
Hamish Somerville in his 1972 Brabham BT37 (below right)

(also featuring our man in the UK, Simon Hadfield, Group E winner here,
& Simon's crew, taking good care of
Rick's cars whilst in Europe)

Advertised thusly:  "The Grand Prix Historique is an exceptional event held every 2 years in Monaco. It follows the long tradition of Automobile sport in Monte-Carlo and enables viewers to participate at a race where some of the most unique and valuable cars in the world can be seen in action....

...."It is a highly prestigious occasion and enables guests to enjoy Monaco during a Grand Prix without the inconvenience of the logistical difficulties of the regular F1. The true devotees of today’s high-tech F1 admit a great interest and debt to the past and to the motor racing legends of the last century."

Indeed...    and what a setting !

Stereo!

The Hermitage (above & below) took very good care of Hamish & Junmei, Lee & Carol and Chuck.
In fact, all of Monaco was wonderfully accommodating for Historic Grand Prix week.

Carol's luggage got lost somewhere between Brussels, Munich and Nice,
so
Sandy & Carol & Junmei (behind the camera) were forced to go shopping first thing, alas.....

Rick
& Sandy's hotel, The Port Palace (above & below), had the
best race & harbor viewing deck in the city -- at the same time offering
an array of culinary delights during the races
(enjoyed by
Sandy & Carol on both Saturday & Sunday)

Yes, this'll do...

Fantastic views.... (from atop the Port Palace)

Atmosphere anyone?...

(that's Hamish coming around the chicane)

Spectacular viewing from above & below
(and/or from strategically placed giant TV screens around town, lest anything be missed)

Junmei and Kate watched the action from aboard
Sheena 's "Heavenly Daze"  in the harbor --
also enjoying great food, drink and racing views.

(below, S & C offer up a toast to all on board)

Ship to shore, Kate to Sandy....

Monaco seems to suit Chuck enormously
(He's already made plans to move)

Hamish & Kate, old friends reunited
(
Hadfield showing utterly no respect as usual...)

Hamish
& Junmei find a solution to walking the hills...

....but the helmet doesn't quite fit.

Whoops -- this will keep Chuck and Lee busy for a couple of hours....
(No worries, they had it all fixed for its next outing Saturday afternoon)

Lee Chapman, hard at it (far right)

Ooh la la...

(a little local color was featured
on the giant TV screens between races...)

Wait..... there's more!
