	SVRA U.S. Vintage Grand Prix 40th Anniversary of Formula 5000 Watkins Glen, NY September 4 - 7, 2008

Once again, we had a great turnout at the U.S. Vintage Grand Prix: Paul Flowers with his Chevron B31, Hamish Somerville with his Lola T400 F5000 car for the Formula 5000 40th Anniversary, Rick Carlino with his GRD and March 811, Sandy Carlino and her Merlyn Mk17 F/F, Bernard Bradpiece and his Merlyn Mk11 F/F, Gordon Medenica with his March 782, Doug Mockett and his Cooper F/Jr., guest driver John Monson to share Rick's GRD and, from the UK, guest driver Ron Maydon for Hamish's Brabham BT37. [Given the 40th Anniversary of Formula 5000, hundreds of photos were taken at this event. Some are featured below, courtesy of the individual photographers. "Golden Jubilee Formula Junior Race. As it was “in the day” the newest cars were up front. David Clubine’s ’62 Lotus 22 was clearly the fastest car on the track and was never seriously challenged. Comfortable in second was Bob Goeldner’s ’62 Brabham BT2. The battle for third was one between two offshore competitors. Doug Mockett, from the US Virgin Islands had third from the drop of the flag in his ’61 Cooper T56, with Chris Drake, from the UK, was challenging with his ’61 Elva 300. Drake got by on lap three, then spent the balance of the seven lap race holding off Mockett." - Bob Harrington for SVRA
