"The Formula 70 cars were now up. Peter Gulick's '78 Chevron B42 was clearly the class of the field in this one, motoring away from the pack.

Bob Goeldner in second with his '78 Ralt RT1 never relinquished the position, but didn't have an easy time of it either.

For the first two laps it was Lee Brahin's '77 Chevron B39 doing the chasing and then, for the balance of the race Mark Harmer's 69 Surtees TS5 loomed large in his mirrors."   -  Robert Harrington for SVRA

"The final race of the weekend, the Group 4/5/7 Mike Stott*UBS Financial sprint, had one of the tightest battles of the day for the lead.

Peter Gulick, '73 Chevron B23, led from flag to flag but Lee Brahin's '75 Lola T296 was all over him, but just couldn't get by crossing the finish line just :00.264 behind.

Rounding out the top three was Jeffery Wright's '86 Swift DB2."    -  Robert Harrington for SVRA

"The first race of this Twenty-fifth Anniversary event was the first of the two Motorcheck On-site Enduros. From the start it was, Welcome-Party host, Juan Gonzales leading the way in his ’64 Elva Mk VIIs with Asa Candler, ’70 Royale RP4 and Kent Bain, ’72 Porsche 914/6 pushing hard. The next time by it was all sports racers out front with Travis Engen having taken over third in his ’62 Lotus 23b. Four laps later, the third spot changed hands again with Robert McClenagan’s ’66 Brabham BT8 taking over, while a lap later we had a change in leaders with Candler passing Gonzalez. McClenagan only held third for two laps though before he was passed by the ’63 Elva Mk VIIs of Paul Flowers. The next change on the leader board came on lap twelve when Gonzalez retired, moving Flowers up to second and McClenagan to third. We were now into the window for pitstops and when the lead car pitted, he had a very long stop, rejoining way back in twelfth. Flowers now had the lead followed by McClenagan and Engen, with all three them yet to make their stops. When they headed for the pits, Nort Northam, ’88 Porsche 944 took over the lead until he too pitted. When all the stops were completed the order was again Flowers, McClenagan and Engen with that being the order to the checker."   - Bob Harrington for SVRA

Richard Carlino in his ’71 Gropa Chevron

"The Group 5 Mike Stott*UBS Sprint was a classic handling vs. brute horsepower battle. Richard Carlino, ’71 Gropa Chevron had the lead from the start with Paul Flower’s ’63 Elva Mk VIIs next and the ’63 Duntov Corvette of Alan Sevadjian with its huge 455 c.i. engine. By the end of the first lap Sevadjian had thundered into the lead, but the next time by Carlino had it back and was pulling away with a big pack behind the Corvette looking for a way past."

"While Carlino was getting the lead back, Asa Candler, ’70 Royale RP4, had taken over third, trying very hard coming up through the esses to find a way past the Corvette. It took him two laps before he could get by, but by then Carlino had built up enough of a lead that Candler could not catch him."   - Bob Harrington for SVRA
