Pete had a great race, showing that he will be in contention at our next race on a track he knows and a car he is coming to know better and better. He was already running with the experienced front runners this weekend.

Hamish had got off to a great start and secured third spot at Rick Knoop's expense; but the first two on the grid, James King who conceded first place to Paul Edwards in the Wolf, just checked out.

Hamish led the group, comprised of Rick Knoop, Michael Fitzgerald, Pete Gulick and Craig Bennett.

Hamish pulled out a second or two buffer and was closing in on James at about a second a lap towards the end of the race.

 Did James have a problem?

Going into the penultimate lap, the order was the same – Paul Edwards in the Wolf, James King, and Hamish. Then coming round on completion of the lap, the first car on the front straight was James; then Hamish, albeit a little closer.

And so they disappeared into turn one for the start of the final lap. Well, we thought, we would have second place and James would get a well-deserved win.

Looking down the long, front straight from our position on the pit wall and and then looking at our stop watches, we were all thinking the same thing:  boy, that's a long lap for James.

Wait a second, here comes Hamish to take the win!  Poor James's March gave up the ghost around the back of the circuit.

Our "Flying Scotsman" had done it again, starting the new season as he had finished the last!

The podium was the biggest and best yet --
before A1GP crews and a huge crowd,
magnum bottles of Moet (a favorite champagne) spraying everywhere; beautiful trophies and much cheering.

A great end to a fabulous weekend with HGP
!

Way to go Hamish!

A huge thank you is in order to James King and Rebecca Hale and Phil Reilly
for organizing this fabulous event - an enormous undertaking.

For the teams that did not make the event, bad choice.
It was great!  Don't miss it next year!
